Explosion, fire on offshore supply ship, two injured, Gulf of Mexico

Explosion on cargo deck of offshore supply ship ISLA CIARI badly injured two people, understood crew members, at around 0345 LT (UTC -5) Oct 6 in Gulf of Mexico, north of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. The ship was positioned at AKAL C8 platform side, when explosion occurred, followed by fire. The ship started to drift, understood disabled by explosion and fire. Two injured people were medevaced by helicopter and transferred to hospital, one reportedly, in critical condition. Official statement said fire was extinguished by 0600 LT, ship to be towed to probably, Paradiso. According to track, the ship started moving, either on tow or at reduced speed, at around 0830 LT. As of 0430 UTC Oct 7, no AIS during last 8 hours.
