​ Tanker detained after allision in Lock, drunken Captain suspected, Brunsbuettel

Product tanker BEETHOVEN allided with pier in Brunsbuettel lock at around 0030 LT May 16 while leaving lock. Three dolphins and pier were damaged, tanker sustained just scratches. Tanker was taken to anchorage for investigation, initially it was thought accident was caused by technical failure, but when on the bridge, officials smelled alcohol in Captain breath. Tanker was detained, with security deposit of 2500 euros.
