Elongation and modernization of three ships in the Windstar Cruises fleet
Elongation and modernization of three ships in the Windstar Cruises fleet:
Star Breeze, Star Legend and Star Pride.
The intervention program is called Star Plus and provides not only the lengthening of about 26 meters per ship but also the almost total renewal of machinery and equipment of motor apparatus and the modernization of most of the public rooms and cabins.

The beginning of the works in the spring of 2019 in Palermo with the construction of the first extension section; they will be completed by November 2020 with the delivery of the third and last unit, with an average stay of approximately four months for each ship.
The new section will be inserted in the ship center and will contain:
50 additional passenger suites representing 47% more than the current capacity,
19 cabins that are added for the staff and crew,
2 new restaurants
Additional space to be used as a sun deck-pool area
The current main engines, gearboxes and diesel-generators will be replaced with new engines of the latest generation conforming to the IMO Tier III standard equipped with SCR, new gearboxes, new alternators and new main electrical panel.
The modernization will concern multiple internal and external board areas, in particular the pool deck, the SPA, which will also be extended and completely rebuilt, the "Owner Suites" and also some common areas of the crew.
The three vessels covered by the program currently have a length of 134 meters, a tonnage of around 10,000 tonnes and a capacity of 212 passengers. At the end of the works each vessel will be about 160 meters long, will have a tonnage of about 13,000 tons and will be able to accommodate 312 passengers.
