Ro-ro grounding, Warnemunde

Ro-ro cargo ship BORE BANK early in the morning Jan 17 ran aground while entering Gedser – Warnemunde Channel off eastern mole, in front of mole’s lighthouse, blocking the fairway. The ship was refloated shortly after grounding with the help of 3 tugs, and safely docked at destination port of Rostock. Left Rostock late Jan 17, bound for Lubeck, reached Lubeck in the morning Jan 18. Understood damages were slight, if any. Steering failure is believed to be the cause of grounding.
