LNG tanker grounding, Crete
LNG tanker GASLOG SARATOGA in load ran aground while approaching Heraklion Crete, Greece, at 2020 UTC Nov 9, outside port’s breakwater. Small depths contours are very close to shore, tanker was as good as running onto coast, obviously due to some navigational or control error. According to AIS track, tanker was refloated at around 0000 UTC Nov 10 and anchored on anchorage, off grounding site, most probably for daytime inspection. No reports on damages yet.
