Acid spill from container ship, Leixoes

Formic acid leaked from one of the containers carried by container ship HSL PORTO at Leixoes port, Portugal, in the afternoon Nov 5. Details not clear – it wasn’t said if spill occurred on board of the ship, or after container was offloaded. FORMIC acid is known to be very toxic and water soluble, with irritating odor. Officials said the was no risk of contamination, emergency and firefighting teams cleansed the area, no injures reported.
