Car carrier disabled by fire, North sea

Fire erupted in engine room of vehicle carrier BALTIC BREEZE during the night Oct 14 in North sea ENE of Cuxhaven, the ship being en route from Drammen Norway Cuxhaven Germany. At around 0000 UTC Oct 14 the ship was disabled and started to drift, with some 3,000 cars on board. The crew tried to extinguished fire by own means, but failed, due to reportedly, heavy smoke. Firefighters were transported on board of the ship by helicopter and according to latest updates, managed to bring fire under control. As of 1430 UTC Oct 14 BALTIC BREEZE was still adrift, with at least 3 ships nearby, including 2 tugs and anti-pollution ship.
