Panamax bulk carrier grounding, Netherlands

June 20, 2018 at 09:31 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

Bulk carrier HARROW in full load ran aground at around 06 40 UTC Jun 20 on Wester Scheldt in front of Vissingen, while moving upstream to Terneuzen. Judging from track, the ship suffered mechanical failure and strayed off fairway, reducing speed. She was refloated in less than an hour with the help of several tugs, taken back to fairway and moved to anchorage off Terneuzen. As of 0915 UTC, status unclear, looking like she’s anchored, still surrounded by tugs. No information on damages. HARROW is loaded with iron ore, arrived from Brazil.
