Tanker aground, St. Lawrence river

Product tanker CHEM NORMA ran aground at Morrisburg, St. Lawrence River, upstream from Montreal, at around 0820 UTC May 29, while sailing upstream from Montreal to Sarnia. No water ingress reported, and no leak. Steering failure is believed to be the cause of grounding. Traffic is not affected. Not yet known if tugs will be contracted for refloating. As of 1340 UTC, tanker was still aground, no tugs seen nearby. Photo of CHEM NORMA aground CBC News.
