Pirates attacked bulk carrier DINO, Nigeria

Bulk carrier DINO under way was attacked by pirates early in the morning Apr 7 some 40 nm south-south-east of Brass, Nigeria. 4 pirates armed with guns in a speed boat managed to board the ship. Ship Security Alarm System was activated, crew hided in citadel. Alerted Nigerian Navy sent patrol boat, pirates fled with ship’s cash and some property, some equipment and accommodations were damaged by fire. Navy escorted the ship to Port Harcourt, where she arrived on Apr 8. Understood all crew safe.
