France-owned, Belgium-managed, Luxembourg-flagged tanker attacked, 2 wounded

Product tanker ST. MARCEILLE was attacked by a group of 5 armed pirates early in the morning Feb 27, while tanker was already under way or at anchor on Cotonou Anchorage, Benin, Gulf of Guinea. Two Beninese guards on board were shot and wounded. Reportedly, tanker was in ballast, pirates fled after they found no cargo. Crew said to be safe. Tanker was taken to port and berthed at around 0900 UTC.
