Coaster troubled in Kylerhea Narrows, Scotland

General cargo ship CEG UNIVERSE suffered steering failure (reportedly broken rudder) in the morning Feb 18 in Kylerhea Narrows, Kyle Rhea Strait between Isle of Skye and Scottish mainland, while en route to Kyle. The ship was brought to anchor, but anchor didn’t hold against strong current, CEG UNIVERSE started to drift. RNLI lifeboats crew from Kyle were engaged and saved the day by preventing further drift, until tug arrived, and took freighter on tow. CEG UNIVERSE was towed to Kyle of Lochals and moored in the afternoon same day. Photo BBC.
