Container ship crane damaged, failed to offload containers bound for Maldives

Container ship MIAMI TRADER sustained crane damage while offloading containers at Male, Maldives, on Dec 21. Ship’s crane was damaged by container, the ship wasn’t able to offload reportedly, half of the containers on board which were destined for Maldives. According to local sources, MIAMI TRADER sailed on Dec 24 with Male-bound containers remaining on board, heading for Colombo Sri Lanka, where she will undergo crane repairs. According to AIS though, container ship is sailing to Dar Es Salaam Tanzania, ETA Dec 30. Dar Es Salaam seems to be in ship’s schedule, probably the plan was changed and they arranged repairs to be carried out at Dar Es Salaam.
