Disabled Turkish tanker taken on tow, Atlantic Update

Dec. 14, 2017 at 07:35 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

Dec 14 FETEKOZ Update: Towage commenced in the afternoon Dec 13, port of destination unknown. It’s Funchal Madeira according to RED SEA FOS (ETA Dec 18) it’s still Bayonne according to tanker. Another Turkish tanker CY CORK (IMO 9393060), which broke down in the Atlantic earlier and was taken on tow, was to be towed to Funchal, but plan has been changed, she’s to be towed all the way down to port of destination Yalova Turkey.
RED SEA FOS approached FETEKOZ, at 1400 UTC Dec 13 was in position 29 24N 053 33W, maneuvering to take tanker on tow.
Dec 8: FETEKOZ, IMO 9369928, dwt 5701, Sargassa sea – NUC since Dec 6, en route from Savannah USA to Bayonne France, ETA Dec 15.
I was tipped by reader, that tug RED SEA FOS (IMO 8102529) left Funchal Madeira on Dec 6, steaming west, probably contracted for salvage.

IMRRA, FleetMon’s official Vessel Risk Rating Partner, risk assessed FETEKOZ as having an ‘green’ risk rating, with a specific risk rating of 33% (30-MAY-17), compared to the fleet average 34.8%. New risk assessment reports can be purchased via FleetMon.
Red: Poorest performing; Amber: Average value; Green: Good indicator.
