Oil barge explosion and fire, Texas VIDEO

Barge No. 255 with some 19000 tons of crude oil, pushed by tug BUSTER BOUCHARD (coupling), suffered an explosion and fire at around 0430 LT Oct 20 some 3 nm off Port Aransas, Texas, Gulf of Mexico. Explosion said to take place during anchor heaving. From 8 crew, 6 were rescued, 1 died and 1 went missing. Fire reportedly was extinguished by the evening, entrance and jetty channels leading to the Corpus Christi ship channel from Harbor Island to offshore were closed to prevent the spread of discharged oil into the port and to facilitate cleanup operations, says Reuters.
