Oceanic trawler fire still on, Argentina: Update

Sept. 9, 2017 at 15:21 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

As of morning Sep 9, trawler URABAIN was said to be still on fire in Puerto Madrin port, Argentina, firefighters have to pour into cargo hold water or foam, and simultaneously, pump out water in order to keep trawler stable and prevent capsizing. Firefighting is complicated by the nature of materials which are in hold – corrugated packaging, the cause of regularly occurring fire accidents on board of fishing vessels. It’s difficult to extinguish, because it’s smoldering inside, with a lot of smoke.
