South Korean ship struck drifting Russian trawler, North Pacific

South Korean fishing vessel TONG YING (no data found) struck Russian trawler MUROM during night time on Aug 20 or 19, east of Iturup Island, Kuril Islands, North Pacific. At the time of collision MUROM was adrift, heaving fishing net. Trawler was hit starboard, suffering breach above waterline and bented bulwark. Fishing gear on upper deck was also damaged. Owner ordered 29-crew MUROM to return to homeport Nakhodka for repairs, trawler is under way, no need in towage or salvage. Photo courtesy Korabel.ru
