Morning Aug 16: Resolve Marine salvage team was to board CHESHIRE on Aug 15, no signals from vessel’s AIS since morning Aug 15. fire is raging in Hold No. 4, other Holds seem to be yet intact. Spanish SAR tug PUNTA SALINAS monitors bulk carrier. Assuming PUNTA SALINAS is nearby, CHESHIRE during last 24 hours drifted some 35 nm west.

As of 0500 UTC Aug 16, capesize bulk carrier was still aground, with salvage tug SALVAGE CHAMPION (IMO 7530444) nearby.

Trawler FIN WHALE fire, Las Palmas
As of afternoon Aug 15, firefighting was still under way, firefighters cooling with water trawler’s hull and pumping foam into reefer hold, where some 1,400 tons of corrugated cardboard were stored. Fire believed to be caused by wielding works.
