General cargo vessel grounded to avoid capsizing
General cargo vessel BAHTERA SEJATI, said to be loaded with 2750 tons of rice, on Aug 5 suffered water ingress when about to set sail for Pulau Flores island, Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia, from Tanjungwandi Port, East Java, Bali Strait. Vessel developed starboard list, she was taken to shallows and grounded, to avoid capsizing. Late at night Aug 5 she was in the same position, understood water ingress cause not yet found. Considering vessel’s deadweight, 2750 tons of cargo seems to be too much.
