​ URUGUAY REEFER towed away from Falklands Conservation Zone

According to Falkland Islands online newspaper Penguin News story, published on May 12, URUGUAY REEFER was taken on tow to be towed as far from the Falklands Conservation Zone, as possible. Abandoned reefer drifted close to Falkland Islands, being some 100 miles southeast of Stanley. Penguin News didn’t reveal towage details, but according to AIS, distressed reefer was taken on tow by another reefer of URUGUAY REEFER’s owner Baltmed Reefer Services Ltd, FRIO LAS PALMAS (IMO 8908193). Vessels are moving in eastern direction, away from Falkland Islands, at some 3.5-4.0 kots speed. On Penguin News photo troubled URUGUAY REEFER, sitting deep in the water.
