Freighter GEROI ARSENALA sank in Kerch Strait, 7 crew missing, 1 rescued, 4 still in water

At 0400 Moscow time Apr 19 MRCC Novorossiysk reported disappearance of 12-crew general cargo vessel GEROI ARSENALA from Kerch Strait Traffic Control Center radars. Vessel was transiting Kerch Strait in southern direction, en route from Rostov to Turkey with cargo of grain. As of 0500 UTC Apr 19, vessel reported as sank, 5 crew were spotted, 7 still missing, rescue under way. One already picked up from water, in critical condition, with hypothermia. Water temperature is 7-8 degrees Celsius, stormy weather. A large-scale SAR launched, engaging Navy, CG and helicopters. Crew includes Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian nationalities.
