Boxship with Libya bound goods held in Tunisia UPDATE
Mar 5 UPDATE: Vessel is still at Sfax port. Tunisian authorities said all the containers with goods bound for Libya were offloaded, because the shipment is illegal, it is not clear why. Investigation and legal proceedings under way. Libya considers seizure to be illegal, violating international laws, and demands the release of the vessel.
Container ship MED PRODIGY stuck at Sfax port, Tunisia, since Feb 10 or 11, detained, it is understood,
by Tunisian authorities on security fears. Vessel is to deliver to Libya’s Misrata and Tubruk 136 containers
with general merchandise, transited from Spain. Libyan authorities are trying to release the vessel,
claiming that there are no arms in containers. In 2015 MED PRODIGY, then ATLANTIC PRODIGY, was
engaged in notorious Syrian Bridge military transportations.
