Turkish freighter collided with docked Italian freighter at Porto Nogaro, Italy

Turkish general cargo vessel ERDOGAN SENKAYA struck berthed Italian general cargo vessel LUCA S at Porto Nogaro, Italy, in the morning Feb 27, while maneuvering in harbor. LUCA S forecastle starboard area was seriously damaged and breached, with ensuing water ingress. Vessel is loaded with silicon, at the time of collision preparing for offloading. As can be seen on photo, LUCA S developed starboard list and fore tilt, breach seems to be of substantial proportions, but crew righted vessel by ballasting and pumping out water, on the next photo breach is already above waterline. No leak reported. ERDOGAN SENKAYA, which is in ballast, was berthed, understood she suffered bulbous nose damage. As of 1330 UTC Feb 28, both vessels remained berthed at Porto Nogaro.
