Live fish carrier FISKTRANS issued distress signal early in the morning Jan 25 north of Bodo, Norway, Norwegian Sea. Vessel suffered steering failure in stormy weather conditions, and drifted to shallow waters, where she dropped an anchor. 6 crew were rescued by helicopter, they had to jump into water in order to be airlifted, all 6 with immersion suits on. Understood there was hope that vessel could be salvaged, but she sank by stern, most probably because hull was breached by contacting rocks in shallows. On photos sinking FISKTRANS.
