Capesize GREAT TANG fire Australia UPDATE: barge was on fire, not bulk carrier

Jan 12 UPDATE: Conveyor belt of the barge which was moored alongside GREAT TANG caught fire, while discharging iron ore into capesize’s holds. Fire was quickly extinguished, reportedly with the assistance of bulker’s crew. The main problem now is bulk carriers’ load delays in Whyalla, in case repairs will take long time.

Australian media on Jan 11 reported fire on board of a bulk carrier, anchored off Whyalla, South Australia. Tugs were sent to distressed vessel. According to AIS, it can be only capesize bulk carrier GREAT TANG, anchored off Whyalla since Jan 9. Vessel is surrounded by tugs and special purpose boats. On a photo troubled bulk carrier.No other information available at the moment.
