1600 UTC Jan 8: NIDAROE seemingly fixed the problem and restarted engine, vessel is under way since 1630 UTC. Tug NAUTILUS BALDER is according to AIS, sailing ahead of freighter, but it hardly can be towage, with some 11 knots speed, in rough weather, so most probably, tug is escorting freighter to safe waters.

General cargo vessel NIDAROE issued distress signal at 1012 UTC Jan 8, reporting engine failure in rough weather at Heroy area, Romsdal county, Norway, Norwegian Sea. Vessel started to drift towards Stigfjorden coast. Several vessels went to assist disabled freighter, at 1145 UTC fishing vessel CETUS (IMO 8612794) managed to take situation partially under control. As of 1330 UTC, according to AIS track, CETUS is preventing NIDAROE’s drift towards shore, but that’s all she can do. Tug NAUTILUS BALDER (IMO 8406157) is expected to arrive on the scene and tow freighter to safe waters.
