Passenger ship SINABUNG with hundreds of passengers sank in Banda Sea, Indonesia

Passenger ship SINABUNG with hundreds of passengers on board in the evening Dec 22 hit a reef and started to sink near Tual port, Dullah Island, Southeast Maluku, Indonesia, Banda Sea. Vessel left Ambon port, Ambon Island, Banda Sea, in the morning Dec 22, and was to arrive at Tual at 1700 LT same day. Local news say passengers evacuation is under way, no casualties reported. According to local news, vessel sank shortly after hitting a reef, but judging from rescue operation reports, it may be assumed, that the vessel rested on bottom in shallows, remaining partially above water.
