Chennai hit by cyclone, near disaster in harbor

Cyclone which hit Chennai port tore off moorings three vessels in harbor, including Andaman islands ferry AKBAR and port floating crane THANGAM, on Dec 12. Crane started to drift to opposite side, where Navy ships were docked. Collision was prevented both by tugs and by submarine crew actions. AKBAR understood to lose head mooring lines, but was secured and safely moored again.
