DAAN collided with Lock’s Gate, damaged, Kiel Canal

General cargo vessel DAAN rammed into Northern Lock’s gate in Brunbuettel, while exiting Kiel Canal in the morning Dec 5, due to engine trouble. According to local media, vessel’s bow suffered visible damages, including torn bulwark. Lock’s gate also suffered significant damage. DAAN was docked in inner Brunsbuettel harbor. As of 1200 UTC Dec 5, vessel was in the same position.vessel is en route from Szczecin to St. Malo.
