KATHRYN SPIRIT to be dismantled soon
Canadian government is expected to voice soon its’ plan on dismantling of abandoned general cargo vessel KATHRYN SPIRIT, stranded Montreal's South Shore since 2011. Vessel developed portside list and is in danger of capsizing. KATHRYN SPIRIT was brought to Beauharnois by a private firm hoping to dismantle it in the St. Lawrence River and sell it for scrap, but that plan never materialized, said Radio Canada. Work to dismantle the ship is expected to begin before the winter, Radio-Canada has learned.
