MSC PATRICIA suspect in oil spill, Portugal

An oil leak occurred in port of Sines, Portugal, in the evening Oct 2, more than five tons of fuel leaked into water. Understood leak occurred during bunkering operation of container ship MSC PATRICIA, docked in Sines at Terminal XXI, from a supply ship or barge BAIA 3 (no data found). Cleansing under way, spill surrounded by booms, some six anti pollution boats are deployed in removing pollution with absorbents. Investigation under way, guilty party may be fined with up to EUR 2.5 million fine.
