GUNESHLI-19 oil platform on fire after gas outburst, Caspian sea
Gas inflated on Sep 26 during attempts to seal gas outburst on GUNESHLI-19 platform in Caspian sea, Azerbaijan offshore oil field Guneshli. All platform staff, 69 people, were evacuated. More than a dozen vessels, including offshore tugs, floating cranes, rescue ships and others, are deployed in firefighting. Among them are offshore supply and anchor handling vessels Topaz Dignity (IMO 9654983), Caspian Protector (IMO 9565027), Caspian Voyager (IMO 9658111), Neftegaz-10 (IMO 8325365), Neftegaz-64 (IMO 8418540). As of evening Sep 27, fire understood to be still on.
Low-pressure gas blowout, Caspian sea
Sep 26: Low-pressure gas blowout occurred on Well No.171 of Guneshli-19 sea platform, Caspian sea, Azerbaijan zone. Low-pressure gas blowout is still on, two firefighting vessel of Azerbaijan Emergency Agency are working on the site, trying to seal blowout. Guneshli-19 sea platform belongs to Azeri State Oil Company SOCAR, oil and gas field Guneshli is exploited jointly by SOCAR and BP.
