Container ship FERNANDO found medical assistance for its’ ill Polish crew

The amphibious transport dock ship USS SAN ANTONIO responded to a medical emergency involving a Polish crewmember of a cargo vessel in the Gulf of Aden, the Navy said in statement on Sep 14. USS SAN ANTONIO responded to a distress call about 1730 LT Sep 12, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command said. The medical team boarded container ship Fernando to provide assistance to the crewmember who was then transported to San Antonio for further medical assistance. Patient was later transferred to a hospital in Oman for treatment.

Container ship FERNANDO reported crewman requiring medical assistance on Sep 10 while transiting Gulf of Aden, en route from Singapore to Suez. Vessel understood to be seeking for assistance, proceeding at a reduced speed and changing course, in the afternoon Sep 12 vessel headed straight for Yemeni coast, most probably for medevac, either to Yemen or to Navies in the area.
