Chief Engineer of GOLDENSTAR badly wounded, medevaced

Bulk carrier GOLDENSTAR on Aug 11 contacted Indian Coast Guard and requested medical assistance, reporting that Chief Engineer, Filipino, was badly injured while working in engine room, apparently in mortal danger due to heavy bleeding. Vessel changed course and headed for Little Andaman Island, Bay of Bengal. Medical team boarded the vessel, Chief Engineer was medevaced and later transferred to a hospital in Port Blair. GOLDENSTAR resumed voyage to Vizag, India, en route from China. ETA Vizag overdue because of medevac delay.
