THANH DAT 01 sank after collision with GUO SHUN 21, two missing, including Master: UPDATE

UPDATE: Vietnamese freighter which sank is general cargo vessel THANH DAT 01 BLC, IMO 8665612, dwt 3232, built 2008, flag Vietnam.

Chinese general cargo vessel GUO SHUN 21 collided with Vietnamese general cargo vessel THANH DAT 01 in vicinity 11 00N 109 00E, 120 nm northeast of Vung Tau, Vietnam, South China sea, late at night Aug 8. MRCC Vietnam was alerted at 2358 LT (UTC +7) Aug 8. Vietnamese freighter sank, there were 10 crew and 1 passenger on board, 9 rescued by GUO SHUN 21, two missing, including Master and Second Engineer. THANH DAT 01 was en route from Vung Tau to Nghi Son, Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam, loaded with 2718 tons of steel. GUO SHUN 21 was en route from Yokohama Japan to Phu My - Vung Tau, Vietnam. SAR is under way, passing nearby freighters TANCANG GLORY (IMO 9334105) and FORTUNE FREIGHTER (IMO 9168520) joined SAR. No data found on THANH DAT 01 freighter, maybe vessel was renamed recently. Freighter was of 3,000+ dwt, Vietnam flag.
