Tug THOMAS DANN fire, Florida

Six crew of the tug THOMAS DANN went into a life raft after the tug caught fire in the afternoon July 22, several miles off the coast of Marineland, Florida, south of Jacksonville. Tug was towing a barge owned by Express Maritime Inc. fire was reported at around 1730 LT. Crew were rescued by nearby fishing vessel. Salvage of the tug and barge understood to be under way.
