July 19, 2016 at 02:24 by Mikhail Voytenko in Maritime Security

Bulk carrier was boarded by seven armed with knives pirates at 1520 UTC July 16 in position 02 55N 105 19E, South China sea, some 20 nm west of Pulau Jemaja island. Pirates tied up Master and ransacked vessel and crew, escaping with stolen cash, crew’s and vessel’s valuables. Most probably, attacked bulk carrier was a capesize BALTIMORE, en route from Port Cartier Canada to Lanshan China. Vessel should be in full load with low freeboard, that’s why pirates were able to board her. As of morning July 19, BALTIMORE was under way proceeding to port of destination, in South China sea.
