Bulk carrier WHITEFISH BAY was refloated at 0750 LT July 14 with the help of three tugs, to be taken to safe anchorage for damages survey. Grounding of the vessel, loaded with coal, was caused by power failure.

Bulk carrier WHITEFISH BAY with 24430 tons of cargo on board ran aground at around 1730 LT July 12 on St.Lawrence river up Montreal, east of Cornwall, while sailing down the river to Bathurst, New Brunswick. Vessel reportedly is hard aground, at 1030 UTC July 13 she was in the same position, traffic is hampered, but not suspended. Vessel stranded off fairway before grounding.
