Product tanker CHEM DAISY stranded in Horta, Azores

Product tanker CHEM DAISY was detained by MAP Horta, Azores, since late May, for multiply deficiencies. On July 11 port authorities ordered offloading of some 400 tons of diesel oil and 50 tons of gasoline on board, because of safety concerns, though the cargo is understood to lack valid certificate. Tanker seems to be abandoned by its’ Turkish owner, 8 crew reportedly weren’t paid for the last 3 months, wages debt totaling some 160,000 eu. Crew’s lawyers are trying to reach an agreement with operator, threatening arrest and auction. Understood some of the crew returned home, because regular manning is some 12-13 crew, not 8.
