Greek CATALINA in hit&run sunk fv LU RONG YU 58398, 17 missing, East China Sea: UPDATE

Vessel which collided with fv LU RONG YU 58398 and sailed away after collision, was identified as Greek bulk carrier CATALINA, en route from Lianyungang to Beilun, China. CATALINA changed course, reportedly after being commanded to by Chinese authorities, and is sailing towards Zhoushan, understood to be anchored there for investigation.

Unidentified cargo vessel hit fishing vessel LU RONG YU 58398 at around 0330 LT (Beijing) time May 7 in East China Sea, off the coast of Ningbo, Xiangshan. Fishing vessel sank, 2 crew were rescued, 17 went missing, large scale SAR under way. Chinese CG and MRCC are trying to figure out hit&run cargo vessel, reportedly not Chinese.
