Mega COSCO HOPE allided with crane, 20 plus containers destroyed by fire, Port Said

Mega container ship COSCO HOPE reportedly collided with gantry crane boom while leaving eastern Port Said container terminal around midnight LT May 3. Boom crashed down on containers on berth causing fire which engulfed more than 20 containers, at least two people were injured. It is not clear what exactly caused fire, according to available information one of the containers damaged by boom was loaded with inflammable chemicals. COSCO HOPE after collision left the port and was anchored on Port Said anchorage, it is understood, that the vessel didn’t suffer serious damages. On photos fire in port. Fire reportedly is under control, fire engines and canal tugs were deployed in firefighting.
