Crude oil tanker DISTYA AMEYA was barred from entry to Malta, with a cargo of crude oil belonging to eastern Libya, which is considered illegal by western Libya. The tanker is not authorized to enter Maltese territorial waters, and all requests will be refused, Malta’s port authority said on Apr 26 in an order distributed to all Malta shipping agents. According to Bloomberg, citing Transport Malta, vessel was anchored at Hurd Bank anchorage east of Valetta, Malta, but according to AIS, tanker as of 0600 UTC Apr 27 was still under way, approaching Malta from southeast. Vessel’s AIS track lacks call to Hariga port, where cargo of oil was reportedly loaded, but there’s a 6 days track lapse, between Apr 21 and Apr 26, in eastern Libya waters area.
