Car carrier PLATINUM RAY grounding

Car carrier PLATINUM RAY with 500 vehicles on board ran aground at around 1000 UTC Mar 7 while approaching Buenaventura port, Colombia, Pacific coast, Bay of Buenaventura, less than a mile off the city’s seaside. Vessel is en route from Japan to Buenaventura. Vessel was refloated some 7 hours later with the help of two tugs, at 1700 UTC Mar 7 she was under way, heading for port. No damages reported. Navigational error said to be the cause of grounding.
