YACU KILLPA abandoned in Tampico, Mexico

General cargo vessel YACU KILLPA is recognized as abandoned by owner, Peruvian company YACU TASKI. Vessel with cargo of timber is docked in Tampico, Mexico, since Jan 26, with 18 crew of Peruvian nationality. Vessel was engaged in timber trade for years, carrying timber from Amazon to Mexico. Part of timber on board was found illegal, the rest is legal, desperate crew asked Mexican authorities to sell legal part, and pay them their overdue salaries, totaling $120,000. Owner has other debts as well. Tampico authorities said that they support the crew, providing them with supplies. Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured Mexican authorities, that the matter will be resolved as soon as YACU TASKI files for bankruptcy.
