One dead two injured on board of Palmali’s ARAZ RIVER

Palmali’s chem tanker ARAZ RIVER had to turn back and returned to Vasto port, Italy, Adriatic sea, in the morning Feb 5, with one crew dead and two in need of immediate hospitalization. Vessel left Vasto after offloading chemical solvent, three crew were tasked with clearing cargo tank or tanks. It is understood, that they used water, which reacted with remains of cargo in form of toxic vapor. 24-year old sailor died immediately, after cardiac arrest, two other were transferred to hospital in serious condition. Vessel understood to be detained in Vasto for investigation.
