HANSA MAGDEBURG had contact with object some 60 nautical miles southwest of Mokpo, South Korea

Hamburg, September 2, 2015 Managers of Leonhardt & Blumberg report that at approx 0120 local time its managed container vessel HANSA MAGDEBURG made contact with an unidentified object some 60 nautical miles southwest of Mokpo, South Korea.

Vessel is en route from Qingdao to Busan, at 0530 UTC Sep 2 was proceeding in eastern direction north of Jeju island at reduced speed of some 6-7 knots. No report on boxship damages, if any.

Immediately after, the vessel returned to the scene for a search of the area with no results. Simultaneously the master of Hansa Magdeburg informed the South Korean Coast Guard who joined the vessel in the search of the area, again with no results found. Consequently Coast Guard then gave clearance to continue its voyage to Busan.

HANSA MAGDEBURG will remain available for authorities whilst they investigate the matter, says
