July 18, 2015 at 14:06 by Mikhail Voytenko in Accidents

Bulk carrier Alam Manis on July 17 ran aground 1 nm off Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur, western coast of Luzon island, Philippines, in a rough weather. Vessel loaded with nickel ore is understood to suffer cargo shift, which caused listing and then grounding. Maybe grounding was intentional to avoid capsizing. From 21 crew 20 rescued, 1 declared dead. No leak reported. Vessel was en route from Indonesia to China.
