Two freighters collided off Zhoushan, one sank, one crew dead one missing
General cargo vessels Wan Li 8 and Heng Run collided at around 0015 LT July 13 in position 30 14N 122 38E, some 25 nm northeast from Zhoushan, 80 nm southeast of Shanghai. Heng Run sank in minutes after collision, most of the 15 crew were rescued by Wan Li 8. Bosun of Heng Run managed to swim ashore. By the evening same day fourteen crew were rescued, one of them died, and one still missing. Heng Run was en route from Vietnam to South Korea with 5000 tons of ore, Wan Li 8 with 3700 tons of steel was en route from Zhangjiagang to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
