Freighter Jindal Kamakshi sinking, crew evacuated, India

According to latest Indian updates on distressed Jindal Kamakshi, situation deteriorated and became too risky for the crew, all 20 crew, including Captain, were airlifted to safety by Indian Navy helicopters, no injures reported. The weather is rough, vessel reportedly is sinking. According to available information, there is a water ingress in breached hull, cause of the breach unknown.

Freighter in danger of sinking off Mumbai
General cargo vessel Jindal Kamakshi issued distress signal at around midnight LT June 22, reporting heavy list or tilt, water ingress and danger of sinking, vessel disabled and drifting north of Mumbai in vicinity 19 28N 072 27E, some 15 nm off coast, 40 nm off Mumbai, Arabian sea. 20 crew reportedly still on board, trying to stop water ingress and take situation under control. Rescue in a standby, ready to evacuate the crew if situation worsens. Vessel is en route to Mundra, India.
