St. Lawrence Seaway reopened after Saint Laurent was pulled out

Passenger vessel Saint Laurent with 274 passengers and crew on board collided with wall bumper in the Eisenhower Lock in the Saint Lawrence Seaway in Massena, New York, in the evening of June 18. Some 30 people suffered slight injures. Vessel suffered damages in bow area with ensuing water ingress, lock was partially drained of water to prevent sinking of the vessel. Saint Lawrence Seaway was closed since 2115 LT June 18. Divers conducted a survey of the vessel and determined that the vessel can sail under its own power. The St. Lawrence Seaway has reopened to traffic after Saint Laurent was pulled out of Eisenhower Lock by the Groupe Ocean tug Ocean Pierre Julien shortly after 1600 June 20, reported Great Lakes and Seaway Shipping. The edition added, that the cause of the accident has not been determined yet.
